How to Leave a Legacy Gift
Your Will reflects who you are and the way you wish to be remembered. It empowers you to shape how your assets can bless your loved ones AND make a difference in the Kingdom of God.
When preparing your Will we encourage you to discuss the intentions of your Will with loved ones, and to seek professional legal advice from a solicitor. The Public Trust Office or a Trustee company such as Perpetual Guardian. The NZ Law Society and your local Citizen's Advice Bureau can help you find a solicitor if you don't already have one.
OM NZ offers an easy-to-follow guide. We’re here to help so you’ll be supported throughout the process, whether you’re writing or updating your Will.
We recommend seeking legal advice - when you’re preparing or updating your Will, or when appointing an Executor/s, Enduring Power of Attorney or Power of Attorney. Your legal advisor can help you consider the most appropriate type of gift to include in your Will.
Personal circumstances can change, so it’s important to review your Will regularly to ensure it still reflects your intentions.
The best way to support OM NZ in your Will is with a ‘residual’ or ‘percentage’ legacy. Your legal advisor can ensure your Will is valid and clearly sets out how your estate is to be distributed according to your wishes and circumstances:
- Residual - remainder of your estate after taking care of your loved ones
- Percentage - a percentage of the value of your estate

Suggested wording for your Will:
“I give to Operation Mobilisation (OM New Zealand), P O Box 76882, Manukau City, Auckland 2241, Registration CC 22286 the residue of my estate or---------------% of my estate for its general purposes and declare that the official receipt of the National Director or other authorized officer shall be full and sufficient discharge for my Trustees.”

- Reach - Sharing God’s love with people who don’t know it, in place that little access to Jesus followers.
- Grow - Discipling and training followers of Jesus to share God’s love, with a focus on raising national workers to reach their own people and communities.
- Move - Inspiring and equipping Jesus followers to go into all the world and take their gifts and passions with them to be used for God’s purposes. • Create Using creative and innovative ways to powerfully and effectively share the Gospel and see lives changed.
- Care - Demonstrating the love of Jesus to the poor and marginalized through practical aid, relief and development work.
We understand that you may wish to direct your gift to a particular purpose. However, most people leave an unrestricted gift. Our people in missions and areas of work sometimes change so this allows OM NZ to use your gift where it is most needed. This also means that as our work evolves to serve mission globally your gift can evolve with it.
You can include your gift when you update your Will or create one for the first time. We recommend you seek legal advice when drafting, updating or amending your Will to include a gift to OM NZ.

Some OM Supporters may prefer that their gift supports OM’s work in particular parts of the world. However, we do not recommend directing gifts towards specific projects or programme locations as these may be completed before the gift is realised.
You can extend the reach and amplify the impact of your gift by giving an unrestricted gift to “Where most needed”. This allows OM NZ to fill the most critical gaps across our projects so that this Kingdom work continues for all those that need it. However, feel free to contact us to discuss any specific wishes you may have.
