Chile Next Adventure 2010: Chile

The Next Adventure is for participants 50+ years old. Missions are not just for the young. Many people in this age group are looking for opportunities to serve. The Next Adventure is an exploratory trip through Chile, looking at varied mission opportunities and also visiting some of the most beautiful areas in the country.

We will be visiting children’s homes in Santiago, a school for blind and handicapped adults in Vina del Mar, a Christian book store and youth hostel on the island of Chiloe, a prison ministry in Punta Arenas, meet pastors and mission groups, visit churches and leave room for a few surprise opportunities. On the tour side, we will have a walking tour of the historical part of Santiago, visit the beach at Vina del Mar, enjoy the island of Chiloe, visit Magdalena Island and walk among the penguins and end our trip with a tour of the national part Torres Del Paine. During the trip there will be a life direction seminar and Bible study as we examine spiritual gifts and God's call on the next step of your life.

Ministry Details
This trip is an exploratory trip more than a work trip. We will be meeting mission workers and pastors in Chile and have an opportunity to encourage and pray for their ministries. At times we may be able to participate, but the limited time and language barrier makes that difficult. However this is a time to examine your gifts and talents to see if God is calling you to a next step in your own country or possible another, such as Chile.

Participant Profile
We are looking for mature Christians who are at a stage in life where they are willing to explore their options to serve the Lord. Many people 50+ years old have good health, have raised their children and have many talents and life experiences to offer.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be in double occupancy mid level typical Chilean hotels. During the trip you will also be able to spend a few days in a Chilean home.

Food: We will be eating at Chilean restaurants and in Chilean homes. We will be trying as many traditional dishes as possible. The food is basic, and bland, heavy on the fish meats, and sweets. All the basic food costs are covered in your enrollment fees however alcohol, extra desserts or snacks will be your responsibility.

Travel: We will be traveling by foot, car, bus, ferry, Zodiack boat and airplane. As we travel in a group, all travel arrangements in Chile are made for you and are included in your enrollment fee. Luggage is restricted to one piece of hand luggage and one larger bag, totaling less than 28 kilograms.

How to find us: We will pick you up at the airport and your adventure starts there.

Health: Because of the travel, you will need to be responsible for your own luggage and be able to participate on walking tours. We cannot accommodate food allergies.

Visa: 30-day tourist visas are granted at the airport upon entrance to Chile. Your visa is a small white paper and needs to stay in your passport to be shown when you leave. There is a reciprocal entrance fee for some countries (not all, check on line). It can be as high as $130 USD for the United States. It can be paid in cash or credit card. If paid by cash, they will not accept any torn bills.
