Let us get one thing clear – TEA is not an adventure holiday. We are serious about you growing in your relationship with God, and gaining confidence in sharing your faith with people in any situation. If your main motivation for joining TEA is the adventure, we suggest you go on a different programme.
That said, we love God's creation, and appreciating it is one way we glorify God.
We are on the move all the time! We will take you around the Lord of the Rings country, New Zealand, spending most of our time where tourists love to go. As well as meeting other travellers and sharing your faith with them, you will get to experience and enjoy for yourself what makes New Zealand such a unique and beautiful country.
We believe that by challenging yourself, you grow in character. Be prepared to do things you have never done before.
The TEA programme is physically challenging. You will spend days walking through the mountains, carrying all your food and clothing with you. (This is called tramping in New Zealand.) Stretch yourself physically and mentally, see the most incredible places, and reach out to the other trampers you meet.
Your TEA leaders have a great love for the outdoors and many years' experience. We will fit in as many adventure activities as we can, such as canoeing, rock-climbing, caving and staying on a local marae (traditional Maori meeting house). Who says being Christians can't have fun? You will also have opportunity to try other extreme adventures, such as bungy-jumping or sky-diving. Just bring extra pocket money!
As Christians, we have a responsibility to not only care about our spiritual walk, but also care for the bodies God has given us. Through the team, you will be encouraged and taught how to take better care of yourself – including healthy eating, exercise and confident decision-making.
One of the best adventures is sharing this 10 weeks with your team-mates from around the world. Pack tissues for when you leave, because you will grow to be like brothers and sisters.
You will learn more from your team than you can imagine...
It was so much easier for me to come to God and to praise Him when I'm surrounded by His awesome creation. – Simon (Switzerland)
The adventure part was very good and challenging... I see now these challenges as opportunities to grow my character. – Michael (Germany)
